  • Why won't my color changes stick?

I am up to my eyeballs in frustration. In fact it is getting downright depressing!

I was doing a little testing and had the color set to needle #2. No other needle set. Then I loaded my design, centered it and then had to bring it way to the left and set eight colors. I had my husband check the color seq just to make sure it was correct. Started sewing, after tracing, and discovered half way through that first color, that it was the wrong color. The reason I didn't notice it sooner is that the wrong and right colors were very close. I thought I had just assigned #3 instead of #2 but didn't look at the screen to check that. Then when it got to the second color, it stayed on the same color and that is only a 100 stitches or so and went very fast. But when it came to the 3rd color, it was still on #3 instead of #11. When I looked on the screen, it showed only one color, not my 8 colors that I put in and checked. But at some point after that it showed all 8 needle choices but was sewing on #3 which was not any of my 8. In other words, it would show the correct seq, but was sewing another seq and that old seq would occasionally show on the screen. Completely crazy.

So, since this is a big design, nearly 50,000 stitches and I had 5 colors changes to go, I decided that what I needed to do was reload the design and start all over, but forward it to the current stitch. I wrote down the stitch number and reset my design. Then to my horror, I realized that I had changed the position before starting to sew (originally) and it is going to be nearly impossible to find the exact position again. I am just sick.

This comes on top of a day and a half of massive trouble in trying to use metallics which we simply gave up on. We are using a poly golden thread for the gold and white for the silver.

I am just at the point where I reset the design and would like to salvage the $22 jacket. And, of course, this is a holiday. This is my Karma that things always are happening when I can't reach help, go to the bank, go to the post office, etc. But that seem to be my fate. This business with the color seq is not my fate - it is a software problem that I don't need to put up with and I want it fixed. But. alas, not on a National Holiday.

So, if any of you good people can offer a suggestion as to how I can save the jacket, I would really appreciate it.

Sorry to dump, but I am fast reaching the end of my considerable patience.

    Juli,
    I feel your pain.
I can't offer any help on the color changes, but there is a "return to last origin" function in the Operating System. I can't remember where it is in the menu and I am away from the office.
As long as you haven't unhooped the garment, there's hope.
I hope one of the experienced guys is reading today. Good luck.

      Juli,

I have had trouble before when I delete or add a color in OS. I always clear and reenter all the colors to be safe.
