Rachel,
From what I last heard, Melco has about 40 techs spread around the country. There used to be around 50. You could possibly say, hmmm, one per state. However some states used to have more than one (like Texas used to have three) and yet other states didn't have any.
Currently, I don't know that there are any Melco techs in Arkansas but there will be certified techs willing to cross state lines.
You might be able to find a tech that services other brand machines in your area but given your machine's condition, you would really want to seek out someone who is a level II technician trained by Melco. (Level II focuses on rebuilding the needlecase).
Wishing you the best.

As Ed has already stated, there are less techs than there used to be .... but this not limited solely to Melco.
The last few years have been a real challenge for many embroidery machine companies and others involved in the business. Reducing, reorganizing and rethinking have in many cases become the norm for anyone involved with embroidery.
As far as servicing the Amaya, it really should be done by someone trained to service that machine. An Amaya is not like a Tajima, Barudan, SWF, etc.
Rachel;
I travel down into AR often. Two weeks ago I was in Hot Springs and then up to Springdale. My phone # is 573-366-0147. Emaul is [email protected]. I'd be honored to get to help you.
