  • OS 9 4 mil. stitch maintainence glitch?

Our XT just told us it was time to do the 2 million stitch maintainence...did that, and immediately after confirming procedure, new 4 million stitch time came up! Went to go through the procedure, and it goes from 'cleaning and lubricating rollers' as the 'next' procedure-to 'please confirm proper amounts' etc....never goes through the steps to do the procedure! Is this a program glitch? At least Sue can remember how to do it from the last time and is going to do it all-but as far as the OS is concerned-we did it without telling us how or what to do.

In version 9, there is a new maintenance timer that has been added. Or should I say, it has been separated out from the 4 million stitch timer.
    It's entitled "Feed Rollers" Timer.

Now each thread feed roller/pinch roller/needle bar assembly has it's own timer. When these independent timers count down to zero, they will remind you to attend to their needs as well. Melco should have changed the windows in some of the maintenance timers so not to confuse.

Okay, we haven't found that...and cannot go into 'help' with the stepper window open-Sue has all the red and white rollers out.
      What grease is for what?
Hurry...we're sitting here with our machine all apart and orders to do!
Wish someone at Melco had gone THROUGH the procedures and fixed, deleted, or changed whatever timer things got screwed up BEFORE people like us got into this! Most likely it isn't time for the roller maintainence but it's too late for that now!

        Roland,

Use the Polymer grease for the rollers....just remember "P" for "plastic" and "M" for "metal"

I always think that Rod and then get confused when the thread feed rollers have the metal hub in the center

            Thanks Rod...
Sue and I got them all done...then found that new step index and realized the most any one needle had for stitches was less than 500,000 stitches...so it got some unneeded maintainence. But I went over the list and will now be able to move 'common' color thread spools to a lower used needle to even it out.

              John,
Here's another way to think about which grease to use...

Plastic rubbing against Plastic = Polymer
Plastic rubbing against Metal = Polymer (plastic still involved)
Metal rubbing against Metal = Multi-Purpose
