  • trouble with richardson caps

I have a 50 piece order for richardson style 585 flex fit caps. I am having a lot of trouble hooping them. The strap on the wacf doesn't line up in the seem of the bill. I just finished 25 yupoong flex fits with no problem. Has anyone else had problems with these hats. It is driving me crazy.

I have tried to sew these before and had problems as well. I won't order them any more.

If you don't flaten out the bill then it is easier to hoop and align. But...you might encounter a higher rate of thread break as the bottom of the cap is lifted off of the needle plate. I do not use a raised needle plate so if you have one it may not happen to you. Best of luck with those.

I also have had the same experience with Richardson hats. I have sewn a ton of different brands of hats and Richardson is the only brand I have had such a hard time with.

Richardson caps ARE NOT CUT for our cap frames.
You have to get the cap to lay as flat as you can on the needle plate to sew.
I glue a HEAVY (upholstery skirt lining) backing in mine and it helps them sew better. But Richardson caps will eat your lunch if you let them.
