I have a minor problem. When ever I start a new design the machine (2007 AMAYA XT)gives a Z Axis error on the first stitch. I can got to the maintenance tab a click "Head up" followed by the Green Button and all is fine regardless of how many times I sew the design. It only does it at the beginning of a NEW design. Any idea what I can do to avoid this problem?

We upgraded to DS V9 and have a 2005 AMAYA Red purchased new and have kept it under extended maintenance. It is one of three AMAYA Reds that wwe have. It does the same thing yours is doing. And, we too, can not find what is causing this to happen, but it is only on the start up for the day unless we put it in sleep mode or turn it off.
Based on your problem and ours, it has to be a software error. We have had Kevin Wasik look at the problem and he has tinkered with that AMAYA and can not see anything hardware related.
Melco has said it might be mainboard version related because it is an original mfg/assembled board. And is probably a querk of an old board, but since yours is a XT. Barb and I believe it is a software problem. Who knows? Anyway, we currently live with the problem.Digital Stitchz / LaserWorkz
905 Texas Street
Fairfield, CA 94533
707-426-9963

Embroidery, Screenpriinting, laser engraving and banners

We keep you in STITCHZ, make your life colorful & your business more visible.

Me too! It is often the first design of the day on one or more of my three reds. I also have a problem with AOS v9 on Windows home premium clearing everything and going to a grey screen. Close and restart AOS and it works ok for a while. Seems to be related to a problem (thread break, maintenance required, etc.)David Sklar
Ballyhoo!
Arlington, VA
www.ballyhoostore.com

In my own experience... the machine needs maintenance... the motor (in case you, as I, didn't know) that drives the main shafts of the Amaya is TinY- I was shocked when I saw one when my (excellent) tech had to repace one in one of mine. That being said, if any part that (sorry-don't know the technical terms) "drive system" doesn't have enough lubrication-the "Z-motor" has to work a good deal harder. Almost every time I have done maintenance, Z-axis errors disappear for the most part. Oil the machine well, and do any maintenance procedures you (me, too) may have "prolonged", and I'll bet you these errors lessen. BTW-the first stitch is hardest on the machine, in my opinion, because it is the very first penetration at the very slowest speed.Gregory
