  • WACF vs. regular frame

I like the added height that I can get from caps on the Amaya XT (I can only go 2 inches on my other machines)...BUT, I'm having problems with the hat shifting. I'm guessing that the non WACF frame lets us clip the hat a little closer to the design, which would solve my problem. Am I right?

I have EMCs and never have a problem with close to 2.5 inches in height. I did remove part of the cap frame to do this and to get the cap to lay down and sew better (more like the WACF cap frame does).
As for slipping on my cap frames I just use a pc. of masking tape to keep cap in place. Worked for me for the last 18 years.
So on certain caps a small pc. of tape may solve your problem.

The wacf is made so poorly that it seems like it was an afterthought- same for the thread feed roller assemblies. Just like anything, the Amayas have their pros and cons. Maybe you could try the ccf (conventional cap frame), and see if you get better results.

The CCF frame (original type) is totally different than the WACF frame as to how it holds the caps. We use nothing but the CCF and have never had a cap shift, but can't do visors-I"ve tried-end up with no usable area to sew! Well, maybe half an inch...which won't do. The WACF uses the steel 'band' to hold the hats down and one of these days I'm going to follow Ed's and several other's advice and see if I can get it to work. I can't see how there would be any slippage with the WACF-that toothed band really grabs. The CCF frame uses more of a 'bar clamp' holding system and if the hat is pulled down tight before applying it-there isn't any movement.

We do visors with the CCF fine... the sew area is definately small but it works fine as do bucket caps.

what's your maximum height on the letters? I need to get 1" lettering on a box of them and I've hooped them several times-can't get more than half an inch...been sitting on this job for 4 years now!

The shifting I had was at the TOP of the design, hence the top of the cap where it just doesn't seem possible to make it tight enought at all. It was an unstructured cap.

That is pretty funny, I thought I was bad! I have a two color decal job to do and have been putting it off as I have never done them before but since I am almost caught up with orders I will be tackling it very soon...
