ethernet communications

My new computer was an HP. Because the Amaya has to be off when you start the OS, the computer would not recognize the ethernet connection. Get a powered USB hub to plug into the computer so it will recognize the USB connection. You won't need the crossover cable, just a regular ethernet cable.

I'm going to try and decipher - but I believe they just meant a NETWORK HUB or SWITCH. They are powered and if you go from your computers ethernet out to a switch and then to the machine, you don't need a crossover cable.

However, it's probably cheaper just to get the crossover cable [img]smile.gif[/img]

Even the cheapest 10/100 switches usually run $25-30 bucks.

There is also the possibility of the problem being that it is an "HP" computer. As I have a new HP laptop that I use and had to jump through a few hoops to get mine to run the Amaya OS10. I also do training for Melco and was just at a customer who also just bought a new HP laptop and his ethernet connection which we understood to be on the main board was not coming on when the laptop booted up and therefore when we tried to turn on the Amaya it didn't talk to it. However the Amaya connected properly to my laptop. I didn't know if you were trying to connect to a laptop or a tower and if it has an integrated ethernet chip on the main board. (forgive me if I am not using the exact computer geeky language) Just a thought.

I documented this problem with the HP in another thread (ain't it fun figuring it out). Get a powered USB hub and that tricks the software into thinking the machine is on, since the hub is on. Problem solved.
