  • Week of disasters, now XT is down

Hello, we have had a week of weather problems and now machine problems.
Early in the week we had a lot of rain which melted all the snow from weeks ago. That caused flooding in the basement where the machines are. We've been drying the basement out for 3 days and of course did not use the machines.
I turned them on tonight and one got a color change error. I could not get that error resolved and then compounded the problem by doing a head down command. Now the presser foot is stuck down and is between needles 15 and 16.
    This is a 2006 XT.
I've looked in the mail list but that searches on all the old messages. I'm looking in the boards now but since I've got a double problem I'm having a hard time finding a good solution.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Can you (with the e-stop pushed in) rotate the z-axis (the shaft behind the head, and above the pantograph)?

YES, but it is STRONGLY recommended that you TURN THE MACHINE OFF before manually turning the shaft. You never know what can happen-if it suddenly starts up, button releases, whatever-you can lose a few fingers. The button stop is 'electrical', not manual-it doesn't engage a 'stop' or brake on the shaft. Just for your own safety, reach around and shut the amaya right off!

          Maureen,
If in fact, your machine's needlecase is between two needles, you will not be able to rotate the Z shaft.

Of course, if it just looks like it's between two needles, say, the presserfoot is bent significantly, then maybe you'll be able to rotate the Z shaft.

          Good Luck,
          Ed

You need to bring the Reciprocator back in line with the goves in the black covers. Head up is when the Reciprocator lines up with the goves ON THE DOWNWARD STROKE!

This happened to me once and had to call a tech to the machine. He could not tell me the reason, the shaft was not bent when he removed it. Been working great ever since.
              Hope you get going soon.

Hugo took a break from the Atlantic City ISS show (or was it the casinos???) and fixed my machine!

Hugo is one heck of a tech. He is a wealth of knowledge and aptitude!

We ARE talking about Hugo "Torbidoni", right?

Now, as for his gambling habits,... I have no idea.

Since he left, the power went out and we have flooding. Now I don't need a tech, I need Moses!
