  • Opinion of Magn Hoop

Has anyone used the Magna Hoop on the AMAYA XT machines? I have found recently that the sticky back stabilizer has been causing alot ot balling up on my needles etc. I thought perhaps the magnet frame would work better. They are expensive. Was wondering if they work as they say they do: if you can use them on the AMAYA XT: and if you know who has the best price on them? Thank you for your help.

Never heard of it-but I have the 'speed frame' system with 2 hoops (3.5 x 6 and 5.5 x 6 I think) and it outperforms the 'fastframe' system hands down. I would think the magnet system would be hampered by thick material (tote bags, jackets, whatever) so let's hear from someone using them!

Stay away from them. I bought one about 9 months ago because I liked the Jumbo Magna Hoop that I purchased for my Bernina 730. That one was well made. However, the Universal Magna-Hoop Pro for the Amaya XT is poorly made and does not hold the garment down securely. A very bad disappointment and waste of money. I see www.sewforless.com took my unfavorable review of it off their website, even though I bought it from them. Guess they just want good reviews only!

I'm looking at buying the complete Mighty Hoop system http://www.mightyhoop.com/order-main.html just before I return from Australia in April.

I just recently purchased my first HoopMaster kit but instead of getting a mighty hoop, I opted for the 5.5 MagnaHoop. I'm so glad I did. I was so nice to work. I called Hoopmaster (Midwest Products) and they were real helpful in answering all my questions. You can tell them what you need it for or what you are doing the most of and they will get you started. That way you can buy a hoop at a time.

Sorry -- It was the Mighty Hoop I got - It is the one that is magnetic on both sides and they come together with a tight magnet closure. (they all tend to get confusing )

Hoop Master sells a magnetic hoop called the Mighty Hoop in three sizes.

The magna hoop is not made by hoop masters.
it is made by Designs in Machine Embroidery.

I own both and have never liked the way the magna hoop worked.

but the Hoop Master product is great

@Greenwing (Jerome in Minnesota)..Do you use the magna hoop and mighty hoop on a commercial machine or a home embroidery machine...I have a Melco EMT. I also have a Brother Innovis 4000D want to know which works best with each type of machine. Do you have any of the fast frames or slimline systems....I need a long narrow hoop to do sleeves and pants legs...What would you recommend as a good hoop for my Melco?...Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Magna hoop is for home machines, it is not as easy to use as hoop master mighty hoop,

I have used the fast frames but I DON'T use the sticky backing I use Magnets it hold the backing on the frameworks great. Though I dont ust then very often any more. I usually find a way to use my mighty hoops.

I purchased the slimline clamp system but rearly use it.

I thought I would use it for cap backs but I intead ust the pocket clamp from melco , With a few alterations.
I broke it apart and glued high strength magnets around the frame and use it like a mighty hoop for cap backs.
I just finished an order of 72 caps and it took no time to hoop and stitch the backs, lay a piece of backing hold the cap in place drop the frame on it, put on machine and sew.

I never liked the way the clamp worked the way it was designed, But now it works great!!

As for long a narrow hoop melco sells one that is OK but I hope hoopmaster comes out with a mighty hoop version.

                    I buy magnets in BULK!!

We have the 11x13, and the 5x5 Mighty Hoops. They work great on the Amaya. They work as advertized on Carhart style jackets. The only thing we have found that the 11x13 would not hold-on was a puffy, fiber-filled horse blanket. Other than that we have been extremely happy with them.

I have done Loading Blankets these are VERY heavy cotton filled & quilted used in the moving industry to keep things from getting damaged.

But your horse blankets must even be thicker.

                          Jerome,
Where can I get the magnets you use for your fast frames? Do you mind sending me a picture of how you do this?
                          THANKS!

                            Here is a source

If you want to try a few I can sell you a few

I also use them to hold the cap backing in place on the cap hoop and I an use much smaller pieces.
                            it works great..

three on each side works great on the fast frames.

Thanks for the source, but which ones are the ones that you use? What force should I get? I think you might use the discs? How many would you recommend to get? I do use FF a lot for my baby items but I struggle with the sticky paper,
                              thanks for your time again
