  • Thread Breaks on Nylon Webbing

I am having tons of thread breaks when I am trying to embroider on nylon webbing. I switched back and embroidered on a sweatshirt to see if it was my machine but it stiched just fine. I am using the 12 hoop that came with the machine with backing. Could it be that there is to much movement since the webbing is only 3/4 in wide? And that is causing the break to break so many times.

I would hoop the stabilizer, then spray with 505 and lay down the webbing. And I would use a wider hoop so you had some room and use a good tearaway. I would not try to hoop the webbing unless I had a clamping system (which I do and they are simply great for things like this!!!). Check your presser foot height, adjust the material thickness - this stuff is very thick, adjust the thread feed min to a high number like maybe 8 or 9, and put on auto actifeed. Did I miss anything? Oh yes, use a sharp needle. Those will all contribute to thread breaks if not adjusted properly. I have done dog collars and they did fine. Practice.
