  • Letterman Jacket Pocket

I am trying to find a hoop that will allow me to stitch on a pocket of a letterman jacket. the design is about 5 inches wide. Has anyone out there done something like that?

Are you talking about stitching above or below the pocket? Above the pocket, you can use a 8" plastic, just bring the pocket inside out to keep the bulk down in hooping. If you're trying to stitch below the pocket opening, you will not find anything that can stitch that wide if you want to keep the pocket functional; you will need to open the lining, use the 8" hoop to stitch, and then re-stitch the lining in place. I've only done it once and made the customer pay! If you have an access pocket, you should be able to use the 8" hoop. Good luck.

They want a patch (applique type) sewn on the outside of the pocket. I was told that the size of the patch is to large for the pocket hoop. Of course I do not want to sew the pocket closed. the pocket entry is 6" and the patch is 5 1/2"

You will have to either hand sew it on or open up the lining. Even if you hooped through the pocket, there would not be enough room for the hoop to move to the edge; the garment would not provide enough ease. Just use a real small hoop and try to move the hoop to the edges. It will barely work with the smallest hoop; impossible with the size hoop you need to stitch on that size patch.
