  • XT Trimmer Problem

    Hi,

Our XT has stopped trimming. It appears to catch the thread but does not cut it clean. It kind of shreads it.
A couple months ago the cable broke and we replaced it ourselves. It trimmed fine until a couple weeks ago. Could it be out of adjustment? Has anyone had the blade get dull and need replacement?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I would start by changing the knife. They don't cost that much and would be an easy tell. If it doesn't fix it then at least you can tell the tech you already tried that.

        Mike...

Being that you replaced the cushrod cable yourself.....start there and check and double chech your installment. Are the measurements right. Have the cable blocks let the wire slip...did they get kinked? Are the cable housings secure and straight? ? ? ? ? ? ?

You need to start from the beginning, just as if you were replacing the broken wire again and make sure it is ok....

            Rod,

I checked to make sure the cable had not slipped this morning.
Were would I find the cable measurements?

Becky C......answer....you can not , just turn it off. The trimmer will work perfectly if adjusted correctly and the knife is sharp.

                Mike,

The measurement related to the knife and selector positions would be located in the Parts and Tech CD that came with your machine. The know how to fully understand the combinations of adjustments and the timing sequences that make this little demon work properly along with the rest of the machine, comes with the complex training and experience that the techs have paid dearly to aquire.

My CD is MIA. I'll be calling my tech.

                  Thanks,

I do not know that there is a way to disable the trimming function on an Amaya machine. The best you could do is to remove the trimming knife/selector from where it sits in the bobbin/sewing arm and you can be certain your machine will not trim, or at leat attempt to trim the thread.

This would not be a good Idea
The Amaya restricts tread flow, other machines you can pull the thread through the tension discs
                      an Amaya you can not.
You will end up with MANY MANY thread AND Needle brakes if the machine does not trim.
