Since you are shouting, I am assuming that you are very frustrated right about now- do not feel alone! I have been embroidering for about 25 years now, and the Amaya cap system is messing me up too- really bad. I have used this forum for research, as well as calling and e-mailing Melco, and listening to and watching the disks that came with the machines and software, and I still have the hardest time. It got so bad that the boss decided to get me some formal training- I go next Monday. If I learn anything new, I will definitely post it here. Tie a knot and hang on, one of the more experienced Amaya users will have some answers in a while, I feel sure!Gregory

The 6 7 8 9 10 are reference marks for being able to adjust the two different wing size (supports) forward and backward to fit the various styles of caps---both structured and unstructured. The narrower wings were primarily designed and better used in the low, unstructured style of caps. The wider wings can be used with the higher profile, trucker style (or anything with a high crown) cap.
We, personally, like the CCF/WAD with the old style frames. Those not being the WACF wide angles on our 2004 Amaya (Big Red).
Also be sure to watch the video on the home page of this group. Herb goes through both the cap frames for the standard Big Reds and the XT. This being the 270 styles.

I did I did! I learned something new about hooping caps. Don't hoop as tight as it says in the video on this site- too hard on you and the frame. Use backing 19 inches long-long enough to go around the frame so it can be clipped in with the clips. And I'll tell you about the magic number 1.14" at a later timeGregory

Oh Gregory - I think Herb would have a thing or two about you saying not to hoop tight. I also disagree with you. Hoo em tight and snug.
No problems here when I do.John Yaglenski

I agree with John and Herb, you have to hoop your hat tight and as snug as possible. I personally always use our hat heat press on the structured hats before I sew them. It relaxes the front and I feel helps with registration.
