  • Needle bar has dropped from assy.

    Needle bar has dropped and I can't seem to figure out out to get it back in place. I expect that something is broken and not just dislocated. I have completely removed the needle case cover and disassembled the bobbin case to be able to rotate the bobbin shaft and reset the take up arm and presser foot to their starting locations. Unfortunately I can only rotate the bobbin shaft about 270 Deg. The needle bar will not go back to a starting position in the needle case by about 1/4". I found a small piece of white plastic laying on top of the thread sensor base when I removed the needle case cover. I have several photos of these conditions that I would be happy to send anyone who would like to help me diagnose the problem. Oh and I will most likely need at tech ASAP as I have never done a repair of this nature before. Thanks everyone.

    Mike,
    Depending on which needle bar, where the needlecase is located, where the little small piece of white plastic came from, etc....

    .... will depend on whether or not you can fix this yourself. What concerns me is that the first thing that comes to mind that is made of white plastic and internal to the machine is the upper portion of the presserfoot assembly.

    Now, in 9 years, and out of hundreds of customers, I have only had to replace a presserfoot assembly with a cracked white plastic piece but once. And that one was on a very much used, older Amaya.
    Now it could have come from a cracked thread feed gear but of course it's important to know from which needle it came from or could it have been the main thread feed drive gear.

    Basically, where are you located? (City and State)
    You might want to consider a service call on this one.

      I agree with Ed, get a tech to help with this one. There is no easy way to recover from a dropped needle bar on the Amaya machine. Many times the needle case needs to be removed to get everything back in place. With the addition of the broken parts a tech will be the best solution.

        Mike;
        The white piece that you found did it look like it might have had teeth like you might see on a gear? Also is the needle case stuck inbetween color changes? You can tell this if the needle is not over the needle hole. I am a 3rd party tech from MO and I do some work in Wichita so if we need to talk let me know please.
