  • having problem with cap frame driver

I am having problems with my cap frame driver the two screws holding the cap frame to the machine underneath where the bobbin is, is
loose and would not screw into the holes. As soon as we start to stich the caps the screws alway falls out the hole.Any alternative options?
    Thank you,

On our big red, if you don't have the cap frame perfectly aligned, the screws won't go in...maybe this is your problem...the screws(with the black knobs) are 'catching' but not actually threading up into the holes?
Otherwise you may have the wrong size screws or the threads have been stripped out. Take the screws out completely, remove the cap frame, and see if the screws will now thread all the up and tighten.
If they don't, then you can figure out if the problem is the cap frame isn't going all the way 'in' on the slides-so your holes line up.
IS the black 'V' guide sliding all the back into the frame? If it doesn't, then your holes aren't lining up.

Is your machine an XT Amaya or an older standard Amaya? The XT versions have two screws on that tighen up on a bar that is slid into a dovetail on the underneath side of the sewing arm. The older standard Amaya uses only one black plastic headed thumb screw to hold a round shaft in place....You are saing "screws" so I am assuming this is an XT. Is this what you are referring to?

We have Brian, the local tech, here now doing a maintainence call...he says if you have the big red like ours, then it probably isn't lined up right and screws aren't going in the threads (or not tight enough), There are two...one on the hat frame assembly, one underneath the white 'bar' to hold the assembly in also.
He says on the XT, there are 3 different types of screws, with different 'caps' on them, and some of the plastic ones are known to break easy, won't tighten easily, etc. and if so, you may not be getting them tight enough. As he said, tighten TOO much and they break or strip...not enough and they will back off and fall out.
Design flaw I guess...we've never had a problem on our red Amaya.

Before anyone thinks I helped her...she happened to call me while Brian was here servicing my big red...and he walked her through on the phone and got her up and running...all I did was hand him the phone! That was good timing on her part.
Now we should be all set for another year! SO well worth paying for the extended warranty-this service tuneup comes with the plan!
