I installed Windows 7 on a spare computer I have (Windows 7 is still in beta and to be released later this year) I also installed DesignShop version 9 to see how it runs.
First of all Windows 7 looks similar to Windows Vista but has a lot more features and easier to administrate on the backend. The bootup is extremely fast compared to other versions of Windows and so far it has run without any major issues. The only issue I have was because I have an old video card so I can't use some of the fancy features it has. If you plan on upgrading from another OS, I suggest doing it from a computer less than 2 or 3 years old as well as have plenty of memory, at least 2gb. A good video card is highly suggested.
Now onto installing DesignShop, I was midway through installing, the install asks you to install the dongle which I did, then for some unknown reason DesignShop install just closed out and I had to restart the install manually. Installation was complete then I opened DesignShop and it appears to be fine, now when I click NEW, nothing happens although I can open one of the pre-digitzed designs that came with DesignShop just fine. The next thing I did was hit 'check for updates' and nothing happened. If you need a new computer, I would wait for Windows 7 but if you plan on running DesignShop on it, I would wait until Melco gets the bugs worked out.
