  • Amaya tech in Florida?

I've been looking at many commercial machines and I keep going back to the Amaya. My only problem is, the closest dealer seems to be in Atlanta? Does anyone know what would happen if my machine needed serviced (after warranty)...what would I do or where would I go to get it serviced?

I've not yet talked with a specific salesperson for the Amaya because I don't want to be "hounded" on them calling all the time until I'm more sure of what I'm going to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll be going to the ITT show in Orlando this month to take a closer look again this year at the Amaya and I imagine I'll be talking to a sales person there. This year, I plan to not be so overwhelmed by all the differant machines.

I'm just wondering what kind of service I would get in Florida since the machine is not sold here (as the Toyota and the SWF's are).

My guess is that there is indeed an amaya tech in Florida that would service your machine. Heck, I am down there 3-4 times a year

The tech will come to you to "fix" problems, though most issues can be worked thru either on the list here (as many techs monitor it) or over the phone via a call to Melco.

Not sure what you mean by the machine being "sold" there. Do they have a local shop that has them on the sales floor or something? My machine was shipped out of Denver and I have never had a problem with it being serviced - and I am in Maryland.

Looking at an old list of mine...it appears there are 2 techs in GA. and one in Miami, FL...could be more now...best to ask your sales rep. Keep in mind tho that if you buy the new XT Amaya machine, they come with a 5 year limmited warranty on them....2 years on some parts of the machine and 5 on other parts......a lot can happen in 2 to 5 years with additional tech service.

In the mean time,Melco's support group, both phone support and their ability to get a tech on site, to service a customer,in my opinion is second to none and far above the norm..

Heck, if you would steer me in the direction of some really large large mouth bass...I might even consider coming that way and I live in Boise, ID..

Dealer service and tech availability should always be major considerations when looking to buy an embroidery machine [regardless of brand]. You should be congratulated on making that a consideration in your machine purchase.

I would be surprised if Melco doesn't have a tech in Florida .... but you are right to ask before deciding on a machine. Having a dealer / tech close by can be a big bonus in both time and $ saved in travel costs [mileage, lodging, flights, etc] should your machine require servicing / repair. There are also the training class considerations.

Rod already has mentioned warranty. The only thing I would add to that, is that when looking at warranties from different manufacturers / dealers ... carefully read those warranties and make sure you understand exactly what is and what is not covered for the 1st year, 2nd year .... 5th year.
Depending on the specific warranty, many people are often surprised to find out what warranties may not cover [things like tech travel costs, specific electronic and mechanical components, labor for needed repairs, extended machine down time, etc.].

Enjoy the Orlando show and good luck on your machine purchase .... perhaps you can cash in on some show specials.

          Reposting for Mr. Ed:

          Hey there Chicky57,
The name's Ed and I'm a service tech and trainer for Melco based out of Louisiana. I don't get to Florida all the time however I do have customers scattered across the panhandle portion of the state. I've been as far East as Jacksonville. Although I'm not an actual employee of Melco, only contracted to do warranty work and factory trained, I could give you an unbiased opinion of the Melco equipment versus others as I also service other brands too.
I'm also a Melco customer as I own three Melco machines myself. (Sounds like the Hair club for men commercial.)

Let me know if I can be of any assistance, and congrats on doing your homework first before you buy!
(PS. You'll have to reach me by phone as I'll be on the road and in Tennessee all this week.) Sincerely, Ed Orantes Melco Equipment Tech & Trainer 504-258-6260 [email protected]
