  • Metallic thread

Hello everyone as you can see I'm new to this group. I've heard a lot of great thing about this group. Enough trying to butter you up. Can anyone give me a tip on working with metallic thread. It's fraying constantly when I sew out a design.

First, use a needle with a larger eye. You'll probably also want to slow your machine's speed a bit. I've successfully sewn with metallic without slowing the speed, but it's not consistent.

Sadly, it might be the thread itself. Different brands work with varying success on the Amaya.

Change the density by about 10%-15% for the metallic color in your design. This should help stop your fraying and thread breaks. Metallic thread is a little thicker than regular thread which is the reason for the change. I always run the machine a little slower too.
BTW - What kind of thread are you running? If you are not running embroidery machine thread, this will cause fraying too.

I have tried many brands of metallic thread and find Robison Anton to be the best for not breaking and have heard that Issacord Ackerman is real good too.
