• Help w/ Amaya

I bought an Amaya two summers ago from an individual that had a small in home business. Due to my busy business, moving my shop and divorce the machine has sat here not used. I just hooked it all up this week. When we turned it on the computer and machine will not respond to each other. Also, is the key pad to work w/o the computer talking to it. If so, the key pad is not working when I push the buttons. I ahve all the software OS and DS. I don't know what is wrong or what to do. if someone can guide me w/ suggestions to elimate problems I would appreciate it.

Debbie~

By chance have you checked the e-stop button on your keypad to make sure it is not pushed in? That is the big red button....

Also, are we talking a big red or an XT? Make sure you maintenance before trying to do any sewing since it has set for sew long...

I am sure someone here will help you more then I can.

I have the big red, but I'm not a tech or computer geek so I can't help you there. I do know you have to have the right cable from computer to the back of the Amaya-should be something in the 'archives' here about getting the right one. Pretty sure if you are not using a hub-going direct, you need a crossover cable...if I'm wrong someone will jump right in and correct me. Our cable is a bright yellow one that came with it.
There is also a 'sequence' to turning things on-if you have never run one before and don't have the manual....you need to find someone with a Big Red to come over and help you out.
Computer turns on first, then Amaya OS, when the gray screen comes up-THEN you turn on the Amaya.
If your computer has enough ram-you can run Design Shop at the same time.
And I can't stress it enough-if you have no experience (like us)...come up with the bucks and go to the 5 day training class-you will NOT regret it!

I have two other brand embroidery machines in my shop. First experience w/ Amaya. I think if I can get the thing hooked up right I will be fine. The problem seems to be in the hookup. I believe the computer and machine are not "talking" to each other. I am not sure if it is the computer connection for the crossover cable or the cable itself is bad.

Debbie:

This is what the manual says for Powering up the Amaya for the first time...

1. Machines are all off.
2. Open Amaya OS
3. Select - Tools>Options then the Ethernet tab.
Check to make sure Ethernet adapter/card is connected to your machine is selected. Then turn on Force Download.
4. Configuration>Machine Config Wizard to start the config wizard.
5. The wizard will guide you through the steps required to configure your machine.
6. After the configuration click Finish on the last screen the wizard will close and OS will open reflecting the new configuration.

Hope this helps and good luck!
