Hello to everybody! Im new here like member, but I was reading your board with great interest for a long time before. Lot's of helpful tips. Thanks to all! Anyway now I could'nt find a solution to my problem. We have 2 Amaya XT machines, both of them bought in January 2007. First year was an real nightmare until we had both of PCB's changed. Then everything was ok and now I have a problem with one of them - bobbin thread is showing on the top. With all 16 needles.I did everything what I could find here and in the manual. Bobbin tension, fabric tension, oiling, greasing, cleanig, pressser foot, red rollers, yellow rollers. i interchanged bobbins between the two machines, put new ones - still no result. Then I noticed that the pinch rollers (red ones) are turning in a strange way. They are stopping for a little moment after two or three rotation. The other machine is not doing that- red rollers run smoothly. Is that coming from thread feeder gear or is there something I haven't done yet? Please help me, Im really deperate.

Dear "Deperate Marie",
Your problem is most probably a result of one of three things.
1) Red rollers are not lubricated
2) Thread is tangled in any of the thread feed drive gears
3) Mechanical problem with the thread feed drive gear.
You can quickly check for smooth rotation of the red roller by holding down the "Laser" button on the keypad and then pressing the "Arrow Up" button at the same time once. You will find the machine will rotate the rollers, inline to sew, a little bit. You can hit this key combination as many times as you like to verify the rollers are turning smoothly and without hesitation.
If you find you do have an issue, you will have to dig deeper to investigate such as removing covers or the rollers themselves.
It has been my experience that 75% of Amaya operators (give or take) do not lubricate their red pinch rollers nearly enough.

I thought desperateThank you for your answer. i'll try laser button thing, because I can swear that all my rollers are well lubricated and there's no thread tangled nowhere. i checked this at least hundred times. So I think it will leave the third and the worst possibility. Where could I find the price for this thread feed drive gear? Didn't saw this in Melcomart. And I have to say right away that we do not have the technical support in case you tell me to turn to them with my questions.
>If you find you do have an issue, you will have to dig deeper to investigate such as removing covers or the rollers themselves.
I removed the black covers, red and yellow rollers already. to clean and to lubricate. is that some other cover or rollers you suggest me to remove?

Well, when I pressed the laser and arrow up buttons the red rollers were turning smoothly.
Then I moved the needlecase to the needle #1 and saw that when machine is working the thread feeder gear is going completely out of the range.
It's like its shifing to the right and then the teeth are not connected at all and at this moment the pinch roller stops to turn; Then the thread feeder gear is moving back to the left and the teeth are connected again. Any suggestions how I can repair this?
This is really urgent, because we have three orders to make and with one machine we will be not in time. Please help me. Still desperate marie

Marie,
Well, It sounds like your thread feed drive gear is broken. Or at least cracked.
Quick fix, see if you can't push back the part of the gear that's sticking out of it's alignment. It may snap back to where it's supposed to be. If you are unsuccessful at this, then the only thing left is the correct repair which is to replace the broken gear.
This is easily done by a tech who has been trained on this sort of thing but if you attempt it yourself, be warned that if everything is not done as it should be, you may wind up with more problems on your hands.
The part number for the thread feeder gear is 30617.
You will want to unscrew the shaft of the gear to get the gear out. Then you remove the gear from the shaft by removing the retaining clip and installing the new one gear being sure to reinstall the retaining clip.
If any of this seems rather tricky, I recommend you consult with a tech. Some folks will have a difficult time with this if you don't have the right tools.
Melco's Tech support will be able to spend more time with you on this subject over the phone if necessary. 877-840-5829
Best of luck to you,

Marie,
As a tech, I would also be concerned about what caused this problem initially. If all you do is replace the broken part but do not address what caused it to break in the first place, you may wind up having to replace a broken gear again and again.
Or,.... Possibly not. It could have been a freak accident destined never to trouble you again.
Just something to think about.

Thank you. I already tried to push it - gently tough - and it wont move. Then I tried to unscrew the cover, but seems that I do not have the right tools - they are too short. Could you please tell me what kind of tools do I need? And I think that initial problem was that this gear didn't went back to its place. I heard sometimes, not often, but still, strange cracking noise when machine made the color changements. Once even our tech was there, but he didn't say or do anything about this, so I thought its normal.
