Z Motor

Hello all and thank you for your help as always.

We replaced the Z motor on our XT and now every time we try to run the machine it is breaking the head off of the needle on it's first time down. Is there any special calibration that we have to do now that we have replaced the motor?

What I suspect is that if all you did was replace the Z motor and did nothing else...what is probably wrong is the hook timing is way off as the hook timing is an integral function of the Z timing. Unless you locked the Z axis shaft to keep it from rotating when you replaced the Z motor, the hook timing is surely now out of adjustment. Replacing something like the Z axis motor may seem, for some folks , to be not overly complicated , but if "all" the proper steps are not performed then complications and/or damage can or may be the result, damaged rotary hook, bent needlebars, etc......

The other thing would be to recalibrate the needlecase to make sure that all of the needles line up in their proper position so that they will not hit outside of the needle-plate hole.
