BIG RED: Vibrating Noise When Cutter Actuates

Put our 3rd machine in motion today with a big order and about 5 shirts in had a problem. When starting to sew, there was a horrible vibrating noise coming from the hook/bobbin area.

Once I got thru the shirt I was doing, I took the needle plate off and watched what was going on and the rod that actuates the cutter is vibrating badly.

What would be causing that and is it something that can be remedied quickly?

Would love to get this in motion today - otherwise, Hugo and I will discuss Monday over cigars and thread

Where do you check? Is that pulling the back cover off? Where is it tightened? My memory is failing me on this.

We're in the middle of production or I'd fiddle around with it

On my XT I had to take off the back cover. Probably the same on your Big Reds. Just tighten it a little bit at a time and test.

I think it's the motor halfway back inside the bottom of the arm is going. Hugo is on the way and we're going to investigate...

We checked the motor and the sensor - turned out to be the motor going bad - which was a bear to replace due to where it is and how it's attached. But, it's done and things are back to normal...
