Bobbin thread shredding

I've never seen this. My bobbin thread was shredding inside the bobbin case. I've replaced the case, but does anyone know what causes this?

I've heard of it but not seen it myself...I think it was from a needle burr catching it as it passes through, or a burr/nick on the bobbin case itself.
Take it out, clean it good, and then run your finger around and around-see if you can feel a nick.
Also, you can try a q tip...rub it around and you'll see the cotton fibers 'catch' if there is a problem.

Thanks. I couldn't find anything with cleaning or a q-tip. It's out of the bobbin case pool for now anyway.
