  • Request Tech Person input....

I've hooped a tote bag (30x36 hoop) secured it in place, made sure handles were out of the way and began my trace. All of a sudden metal was stessed, broke ...and well, I need a new left arm and the back part of the thread take up mechanism (both pieces). I absolutely don't know what happened. Question: If I order parts from Melco, is this something I should reasonably expect to replace myself? My son is tech support engr for a living if I get stuck. Would you recommend I replace parts, or just break down, suck it up and call for a service call?

    thx

    Theresa,

The hoop arm I can understand but not sure what you are referring to when you are saying "back part of the takeup lever mechanism(both pieces).

I believe that you may be referring to the grabber and the grabber trap. The grabber pushes the thread into the grabber trap durning a trim...look in your parts CD and check to see if this is what it is.....

If this is what it is then what happened is that while the trace was going on the grabber blade went under the clip on the hoop arm and the rest is history......do you also have any needle bars down?
