Thread Feed

My XT must be a dud judging from the posts of the senior members/experts. I have never been able to run my machine successfully on auto feed lower setting of less than 3. I usually have it set at 5 or higher, and I almost always get better results if I take the feed OFF of auto and run it on 6 or higher. And I almost always get a better result of I run slower than 1000 spm. (and before you say it, I sucker myself into trying the auto-feed at the start of almost every job, and I set it up at 1000 spm and lower the lower thread limit to 2 or so, and I always end up back on manual and 7 or 8, and at 800 spm)

Is there a calibration I can look for or is my machine just different?

When is the last time you have had the machine professionally serviced or checked-up? We do it every couple years. It definitely sounds like something is not right. Wondering if the thread feed sensor isn't operating properly.

Coincidentally, though I went to tech training and fix my own machines, I still call Hugo to come by every couple years to look things over. Usually, because I am just too busy with other stuff. He's a great tech and a great guy. Love talking to him and trust him with our machines like it was me working on them.
