I have been having a very bad, nerve racking time with the X axis making horrible grinding noise. This has been going on for some time, but a tech visit is very big bucks for me - round trip plane ride, car rental, maybe hotel, not to mention time and parts. I have a job coming up that has a lot of left-right stitching and just knew that I would have big troubles with it.
So, I decided it was time to try to do the adjustment to the X axis cable myself. Read the instructions, searched the messages, and finally looked up the prices for the parts that I needed. For only $425 plus shipping I could get them! Wow! Big bucks for something that I would use only use once every couple of years. Not going to happen. I decided that I would just wing it. I did the adjustment on both sides - very little and tried to do the same on both sides. Ran a design that had long stitches going left and right. This would normally, for me, cause the horrible noise. But everything ran quietly. Then I ran the last of the hats I was doing that had been making so much noise that my husband came down to see what was happening. Ran quietly with no noise at all.
My machine was bought in 2006 and has never had that adjustment made. So, next time I do have to have service I will be sure he has new cables to install.
