  • Jeff Banks

With a heavy heart and a great deal of sorrow I wanted to inform those of you who knew him that Jeff Banks from Melco passed away yesterday.

Jeff was very helpful and patient in helping with software related issues.

I am sure there are many of you that he has helped with an issue or answered a question on the list that was helpful.

I am attempting to get some contact information from Melco so those of you that wish to can send condolances to the family.

Jeff helped me several times and was always very helpful and quick. What was the cause of death? I never met him in person, so I don't even know how old he was.

Yes, please get us the family info.

That is so sad. Please do let us know the details. He was a great guy to work with on beta testing. I'm sure I gave him many fits.

        Hi-

I don't have any real details yet, but worked closely with Jeff for the last 4 years or so at Melco. Jeff was 55 (give or take), married and had three children (all grown). He was recently diagnosed with cancer and had been undergoing chemo and radiation. Beyond that, I have no details.

I hope I'm not violating any ethics by posting this here. Jeff was a good work friend of mine and he'll be sorely missed -- not just for the work he did, but for the person he was. This is a great loss to the Melco family.

If I hear anything, I'll be sure to check back here.

It saddens me so to hear this news. Jeff has been my lifeline at Melco since we got our first Amaya's back in 2002. I will greatly miss being able to talk with him and receive his helpful assistance with the machines and software. Being a Melco customer for the last 17 years I feel as if I am a part of the (extended) Melco Family that Robert mentioned and I am feeling this Great Loss!

              Here's to you Jeff!
You helped make me the tech that I am today.
Please look down upon us from that great embroidery machine in the sky.

I met Jeff in 2002 shortly after receiving our first 3 AMAYA's. I had many phone conversations as well as e-mailing back and forth dealing with problems. Shortly after he asked me to be a Beta tester and then we talked not just about problems but improvements. I could send Jeff a design, idea or ask for help anytime and he was always there whether he was working or at home it didn't matter to him. he will be missed by many and by me for sure He was the software go to guy at Melco if anyone was I remember sending him reports that looked like Russian or Greek to me, who knows but he understood what it meant and fixed thisng. What a great guy and a sad loss for Melco, his family and us, his other family.

It is sad when someone so young passes away. The only good thing is he is in a better place and we will see him when we get there. Toni
