  • Machine off register

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but what causes the machine to be stitching along, then get off "register", so to speak? The starfish I am doing did not stitch in the correct location and it didn't line up correctly, but did on the test out. Also, I had this happen with the lettering, on the same project. I was just wondering what causes this to happen...thanks for your help. I just ruined a shirt for a $15 job, not worth it...

Is the hoop actually jumping from it's original position or do you have a fill within an outline that is not lining up properly? Is the final sew out that is having problems identical to the conditions of the test as far as fabric, backing etc.?

I'm not sure what is moving...the fill and the top layer are off about 1/4 inch, maybe a little less. Also did it on one of the letters, where it shifted so the top part doesn't line up with where it started. The final sew out was on something very similar to what I tested it on...I didn't have exact fabrics.

I know it is irritating to say...
But since the design sewed out on a similar fabric perfectly.
re check your hooping, and make sure your hoop arms are tight that is if your using them.

how are you hooping this garment?
        are you getting it tight.
is the material able to stretch in the hoop after hooping by just pushing with your finger.
if so you may want use an iron on backing or a "small" bit of spray adhesive on the backing to keep shifting down.

If the hoop were actually jumping, when you hit Return to Origin the location of the center will no longer be at or with a few points of 0/0. It is more likely that, as Jerome says, your fabric is shifting.
