Have you tried to push in the Emergency Stop button then rotate it as you pull it out and that usually resets it. Try to watch and see if it's the same spot of the design that causes the problem or just a one time fluke.

I spoke to Melco this morning and they informed me it was an obstruction. I was sewing a hat when this happened and a part of the hat hoop touched part of the machine when it moved to the next letter and stopped the machine.
Last night I did hit the emergency stop which reset the machine and picked up where I left off.
