  • Problems in bobbin area

Folks - one of my XTs need some TLC. I was sewing and got stopped for a broken needle. When I cleaned out the bobbin area and replaced the needle, I noticed the bobbin wouldn't go back in easily. Now, I'm not too good with these machines so I will describe what I see:

The black circular part that holds the bobbin case is spinning as the needle wants to go up and down. On my other machine it stays stationary. So I believe something happend when the needle broke to cause that to happen. I can manually get it back to the correct position and insert the bobbin but as soon as I do a single head down, the needle hits the top part and bends and the black section moves.

I know I didn't describe it right but can someone tell me what I need to do to fix it?

    thanks

It seems that the retaining finger, that silver thing that has two screws on the left side and the little finger goes into the notch of the black thing, needs to bee reset. So loosen the two screws, turn the black thing so the notch is at 12 o'clock and put the little finger right in the notch. Now --- there is supposed to be a very certain distance between the finger and the back of the notch. We were supplied with a gapper with the original tools that came with our machine. It looks like a little flag on a post. The post is the thing you slip down behind the finger and move the finger against it and tighten the two screws on the left. Take out the gapper. That should do it.

I believe the written instructions are somewhere on one of the CDs we originaly got, but it is very simple to do. If you can't find the gapper, then the space should just allow a thread to pass behind the finger - but not too loose.

    Good luck,

      Mahalo Judy -

Extra guava juice for you tonight.

There was a lot of thread and other gunk stuffed around the black thing. Seems to be running okay now. Thank you, thank you
