Table to support Slim Line

There have been a couple of topics today mentioning home made support tables for use with the SlimLines. I'd love to get some pics/examples of what people are using. I love the Slim Lines, but it bothers me to no end that the bottom rests on the sewing arm.

I purchased the three (small medium and large sized) tables/extension that Melco sells (can't get to melcomart.com from here to look up those numbers, about $75-95 if I can remember), but have never used them with the SlimLine. Usually I am looking for the tubular effect so the bag's pocket or whatever will drape around the bobbin arm sufficiently. But I can say that the SL usuable area is definitely smaller than the edge to edge of the hoop limits, so watch out.

here is my ideal version of a table for the Amaya. I was thinking that one of those hospital tables that is adjustable in height would be good. cut out the shape to accommodate the embroidery arm so it can fit around the arm or lowered for support of heavy items. Anyone here think this might work? I am so tempted to find a table around here and try it out, but I'm not very good with the jigsaw, LOL! Edna

John, I will try to get some pictures tonite and post link for all our users' benefit. I find these tables valuable when I do some karate belts. I use one of the large wooden hoops, 14x17 I think, and I line up two or three belts side by side, parallel to the bobbin arm, and having the table prevents the belts from "rocking and rolling" side to side on top of the rounded XT arm; it gives them the additional lateral support. I'll try to include a picture of that later, I don't have any karate belts in the shop to run right now.

Here are the part numbers for the table tops that are available for the XT machine.
If you want to see drawings of these table tops, you can view them using your XT parts CD.
Once in the Parts Program, click on the Search Tab and type in the word "Options". Hit enter. Scroll down to the word Options and double click. The results will list the table tops and if you click on the part number it will show you the drawing. I'm sorry I don't know the pricing.

As for the original Amaya, there was only one table top option and it's part number is:

32795 - Tabletop Option

I don't think I've ever seen any of these in the field. Maybe folks just don't know that they were available for purchase.

Well, I lied, sort of. I only purchased the small (6" wide) and the large (12" wide) table extension from Melco. They are very nicely constructed, have thumb screw adjustments and slide into the rail under the bobbin arm like the cap driver to secure them at the correct height. They show the top and bottom view of the small extension, in place with the Slim-Line I (6" x 5.5" field) with both the small and large extensions in place. I had not thought to use them together, until John asked, since I primarily use the slim-lines for bags and what-not and need the room around the bobbin arm for the tubular advantage. But I have used these "tables" with karate belts and large wood hoops, and they certainly keep the field of sewing very flat and nothing hits the bobbin arm from the front. I could see where even a regular hoop with the peripheral material supported by these could be used more safely, and not have the bag or material pop out of the hoop by its own weight.

Lastly, a freebie, a shot of our pegboard wall and the organization it gives for our hoops and Hoopmaster fixtures and rolled stabilizer.

Thanks guys! Had no idea there was such a thing, and available from Melco no less. Tried to get the pricing to contribute to this topic, but the melcomart website seems to be down right now.

And as one that likes some semblance of order, thanks for the pic. I used a pegboard inside my laundry room for pots and pans in my first home...it was soooo small there were few cabinets. Worked great for that purpose and looks like the ticket for hoops etc.

I've been working on Edna's creative potential solution also...would have never come up with that.

I've searched for the hospital tables on Ebay, cheapest place I could find them. Found one for $65 with free shipping. I am thinking that the tabletop can probably be removed and replaced with a top slightly larger. Would be nice if it can be stored underneath the embroidery cart, assuming it can slide under it due to the height of the legs? I could wait 3 weeks for my hospital stay after neck surgery to check out the table, think I'll remember (or care)? On the other hand if that does not work, Ikea carries tops and legs with wheels, also adjustable height legs. Gotta wait until after Ike makes his appearance though, he's supposed to be stopping by for a visit tomorrow night. Lots of stores already out of ice, water and bread. no gas at the local pump either. Wish us luck. Edna
