  • Machine Error Still occuring

OK - I am going to post this again. I am continuing to get this problem.

Selector error - Not on Index when sewing.

When it does this it sounds like the machine missed a trim and stops with thread still attached. When it stops it somehow shift the hoop location up/down between 1/8 and 1/16". so if I restart the machine it wont line up. I then have to try to manual realign the design. Sometimes I can do it other times cannot. It happens at random on both of my machines. I can never predict it happening. I have a box of ruined product in the $300 range. I went 3 months without a job and finally they started rolling in. But lost a min of $100 profit on each job because of these problems. I have called Tech supports 3 times. They have walked me through cleaning the selector area, trimmer...etc. They even had me open the circuit board area and disconnect and then reconnect all cables. They suggested I try a beta patch and see what happens, but it come with its own possible problems. I also reworked my network connections.

I cannot afford to have these problems occur anymore. I can handle myself making a mistake, but it seems like Melco has some serious issues with these two machines and nobody can figure it out. And it is all at my expense.

It has gotten to the point that with every order I have to order extra product just to account for this happening. It is going to put me out of business very soon. Hopefully someone has experienced this problem and can shed some light on it. My local tech has told me it could be a bad circuit board, but Melco says its not and wont even address it anymore.

Please help! Also does anyone experience problems with Design SHop running on a computer with Vista.

    Thanks

I also am getting that error message, but haven't noticed the design being off.

How old are your machines? The cables stretch after awhile. And I don't care what Melco says, the trimmer for the XT is not the best. They have a new Trimmer they have in beta, but you can't get it. When it finally does come out, I am going to order one.

for all you folks with trimmer problems - Melco should be GIVING you one of the new trimmers Juli speaks of..and send someone to install it, too!

Some of Jason's problems sound like software bugs to me, particularly when they offer him a beta patch to try.

Machines are 1 yr old and have been doing this for 6 months now. I just has very little work for a few months so didn't deal with the problem.

I thought maybe software related also, especially since it does it on both machines. My local tech says he has never heard of a circuit board going bad on two machines at the same time. I un-install and reinstall my software every two weeks or so. Otherwise it crashes a lot and has other issues.

Melco has never mentioned anything to me about the new trimmer. I will ask when I make my weekly call to them later in the week.

Would it be possible to keep a list of those who are having trimmer problems and with that info maybe have Melco reinvestigate the problem. Margaret

They know exactly what is going on. Don't kid yourself! They are working on the problem, but it is slow. And in the mean time, they deny everything.

I hesitate to post this because I am away from my workplace for a week and can't check out exactly what I did, but here goes.

I did have a problem with a selector index error, and had the no trim that you are talking about. I went to the maintenance dialog (where you can put the head up, down, etc.) and was going to do a test on the selector and trimmer as written in the Technical manual pdf. I think it is the second tab.

Anyway, I could move the selector back and forth and the trimmer, but the test buttons were grayed out. Somewhere in the PDF I read something about putting the head down to the bottom, where it should read about 180 degrees, then clicking a release button (or named something like it), then the head up button. I did that, then checked and could perform the selector and trimmer tests.

Everything seemed fine after that. Since I can't describe exactly what I did and also don't have access to my shop computer, I would advise you to read the technical PDF for selector errors and you can probably find it. I don't know if the procedure will work for you, but it appears to have worked for me.

You can add me to that list! I had my trimmer motor on one of my machines replaced within the first six months of using that machine. I lived with it for a long time thinking it was just me, but when a tech was here doing the Sequin attachment I had him look at it and he called Melco and had them overnight a new motor and he came back that next day to install it. It was good for awhile, but that trimmer is always what causes me grief between both my XT's and ruins some designs if you are not sitting over it with a scissors ready to trim when it doesn't. Sometimes I have to run one machine just because I can only be babysitting one at a time.

I have this problem VERY sporadically (thank goodness!). It generally starts up after I have to depress and release the emergency stop button because the green start button won't start the machine because the gremlins are playing. Once I get two missed trims, I note the stitch number, shut everything down, make some tea, and start everything back up. I have been VERY fortunate so far in that it has always trimmed after that without a problem.

I remember a while back some discussion about the up arrow and left arrow on the keypad -- pressing the two of them at the same time, which makes the machine reset itself. I tried it, and got nowhere.

When the XT gets tempermental, I treat it like a kid with a temper tantrum. Put it to bed and ignore it for a bit. It would be wonderful if the programmers could come up with a subroutine to clear up THAT TEMPER!

                    Jason,

In your first post, you ask.........Please help! Also does anyone experience problems with Design SHop running on a computer with Vista.

Visa....not very popular....it does still have it's issues....and yes, other folks do have issues with Visa.

Try this....."Right Click" on the 3D icon in the toolbar and uncheck the "Hardware Acelleration" function. I have seen many times where this feature is interferring with DS/OS operations. It has someting to do with the video cards etc.....worth a try....unless you are going to run some highend video games on your computer, this feature is not needed.....

If I may make a suggestion.....this is a process of elimination. I would suggest that you load your software in a different computer that is not Vista if at all possible and see if the problems still persist..

Also, make sure that all firewalls and/or virus programs are disabled prior to installing the OS/DS software. Also, Make sure that OS/DS is the LAST programs loaded. Loading other programs such as AI or Corel Draw on top of OS/DS may interfer with it's operation as the registry may be changed/shared, etc......

As far as the trimmers are concerned, this is a complex issue with a great many varibles that can affect it's function. Exit points on the column, stitch lengths, MACHINE LUBRICATION, knife condition, hook timing, Z axis timing, selector/cutter position, trimmer housing position, bobbin tension and the list goes on.....
