Knocking sound and constant stops

My Amaya XTS has been having issues with a knocking sound, and false thread breaks, and actual thread breaks. It will stop for what appears to be no reason at all, as I can just push start again and it goes. It seems I have to move thread around to get it to work. I have several spots where the machine has issues. The tension seems fine, and nothing that I see appears loose. I also am a tad newer so don't know all the parts. I've looked up other chats but they make no sense to me to see what to look at. Oh and when it sewed on color 1 yesterday it sounded so bad! A coworker in another department asked if it was supposed to sound like that. Thanks for any help you can give!
