Shirts for an Automotive Repair Shop

I have a customer that just bought an automotive service shop. He would like to order shirts for his employees, but his shop is very hot - he calls it a sweat shop. He wants a microfiber polo, but I don't think that is a good choice for the grease that will get all over them. He wants a henley or polo type shirt - no buttons that will scratch the finish on the cars. And he'd like a "racing" theme. Any ideas?

He doesn't want much does he? Both Henleys and polos have buttons at the neck. I would gusses a cotton tee shirt if it hot. There are some nice microfiber ones but you are right about grease and they will be expensive for him. Anything with a teflon coating would help with the grease. Good luck.

I have worked as a tech for over 25 years and polo's wont work. Fender covers are used to protect the cars not the shirts.We have tried different shirts but always go back to a polyester shirt it works better in the heat.You can look at Virginia T's they have some "racing" style shirts,I don't know if they are very light weight or not.We wear shirts from Cintas very thin button up short sleeve.They wear like iron and resist stains very well.Battery acid is also something to think about as well.

Around here they go for the Gildan polos with the racing 'stripe' highlights...and if he's worried about buttons he can just snip them off...I know with my fat neck I can't button up collars or I look like Papa Smurf...
there are also 'V' neck mens teeshirts but I'm not sure of what brand.

If you get this weblink, Rivers End just popped an email 'closeout' special and the Tommy Hilfiger Crew doesn't have buttons, is a 'racing' type shirt...maybe this is what you can suggest?

I have a uniform rental business. we use sanmars corner stone line and Vf imagewear redkap line these products work very well for this industry, polos dont work for mechanics. they will look poor in a very short time. racing theme will be hard to find. redkap has some dealership wear that will be kind of close. they will never look great unless you have a uniform supply and maintain them.
