  • False Bobbin Breaks

Can anyone tell us what else would cause false bobbin breaks? We have stitched out two different designs using different needles, changed needles, cleaned thread feed rollers, changed bobbin cases, changed from coats bobbin thread to magnetic bobbins, tighted and loosened bobbin thread and well as cleaned everything you can clean in the bobbin area. If we turn off the bobbin break detector the two designs stitch without any issues. Is there a sensor somewhere that needs cleaning or replacing?
    Thanks Margaret

How old is your machine....ie....is it an XT or the Standard Amaya? What Version of software are you running? 7.00.xxxx? In OS, under Settings, Threadfeed, do you have an auto lower limit setting, if so what is it set at. Have you gently rotated the thread break sensor tube back and forth?

Does it give you the error on Standard acti-feed as well as auto acti-feed?

How is the static electricity in your work area? You may want to spray and/or rub down the machine with some type static guard as this will cause false thread break problems.

It is possible that your thread break sensor has gone ka-putttt...but do all the above first......

      Dear Rod,
Machine is a standard amaya from 04. Software is the versioin 7.00.114 DO Pro+ and OS 700.115.
I have never heard of an auto lower limit setting and I don't know where to find the thread break sensor tube. Can you direct?
All of out sewouts were in auto acti-feed.
Static seems to be fine in that the XT that is working right next to the standard is working just fine.
I think that the possibility of the thread break sensor going ka-puttt is a good answer.
      Thanks for the help.

The thread break sensor is the silver tube that runs horizonally across the middle of the needle case. All of your threads are wrapped around this tube. Sometime this tube needs to be rotated gently back and forth to reposition it slightly. This tube is what the auto acti-feed uses to operate by.....

In OS, go into "Settings", "Threadfeed", and about mid-way in the display page, you will see "Auto-lower limit". This setting will allow you to set a material thickness that will not allow auto acti-feed to go below. Works great for caps....set it to 6 and you will have better looking embroidery with less thread breaks.....but...but .....but....you must remember to set it back to 1 or 2 when going back to the flat mode or you will have loopy looking embroidery and or false thread breaks because the machine will be throwing too much thread and the thread break sensor will give bad readings if the thread is in a loose condition around it.

The one other item that will cause the false thread breaks is a worn take-up lever cam disk. If this is not lubricated properly and I would not advise waiting for the timers to come up on the 10 million stitch count to tell you it is time, and it becomes worn because of a lack of lubrication, then the take-up levers will not pull the thread up high enough on the up stroke causing another loose thread condition and .....false thread breaks and a tech call for sure.....as it is a difficult part to replace....
