I recall this being discussed to extent before, but I cannot find any reference, so I will ask again. I am contemplating taking one of the big reds to the county fair. It will be indoors, but I assume no air conditioning and hot and humid (DC in August is not fun.) The first question is whether there is a problem running the machine in this environment (assume 90 degrees and 80-90% humidity)? Are there any issues with the actual transport (bumps in the road, bumps when rolling across door jams, etc.) that may cause issues with the machine? Does anyone do this regularly? Thanks.

I have been reluctant to venture out of doors with my machine because my insurance will not cover it unless I purchase a rider.

There was quite a discussion on taking Amayas to trade shows, animal shows, etc. last fall-should be able to find it here. Generally consensus and majority answering all felt that it was not worth the risk and expense to do it...it takes several people just to move them-a van or truck large enough to handle it, insurance to cover it, insurance to cover the lawsuit when you kill the person that drops it off the loading dock....
and then to top it off-are you really going to make $100 or more per hour every hour to make it worth it? Even one good 'thump'over a speed bump can screw up your alignment...
I can't remember if anyone did post about doing it successfully and profitably.
And should something get damaged-I don't think Melco warranty is going to cover damage 'out of the shop'...
think long and hard about it...can you afford to be shut down for a week or more and blow the show if it gets damaged in the parking lot and you have to wait a week or two for repairs?

Honestly, if I was doing trade shows on a regular basis, I think I would look at a more portable machine such as The Brother PR-620 http://www.brother-usa.com/HomeSewin...roductID=PR620 or Melco's EP4 http://www.melcousa.com/index.php?s=96 etc. Most run in the 6-7k range.

Keep in mind the EP4 can not do caps.
