  • Direct to Garment Printers

Does anyone have any opinions about direct to garment printers. If you have one do you like it or would you purchase a different brand. I have been looking at several and wanted any opinions, good or bad. How long is print looking good, problems with white (ink), waste with ink, cleaning, etc. Thanks for any help.

    Hey Wishes:

After looking long and hard at garmet printers, we went with the Epson 4880 Hybrid solution. Half ChromaBlast, Half DyeSub.

Looking at the accounting, I just had a hard time figuring out how I was going to get my $15k back with the expensive cost of the inks and the high level of entry.

So, for roughly $3-4k, we got a system that produces excellent stuff sublimation wise, and comparible quality on the chroma blast to many direct to garment stuff out there.

I'm going to repost this here so the web folks can see it:

I agree with you. We decided to go with the Chromablast inks as well. I
kept asking people that had the direct to garment printers what their
thoughts were and no one could give me a resounding answer as to why they
liked them. I know I loose the business of people wanting dark colors, but
to tell you the truth the vast majority of the shirts we do are on light
colors. Anyway I would have to loose a lot of dark shirt business to
justify the cost of getting one of those things. The Chromablast inks allow
us to print on cotton shirts and be more competitive than we were with
      traditional sublimation.
