This was recently posted on the Yahoo Amaya Group I have - and I'm wondering if it is correct.
    ----------------------------------
"I received an email from a lister that has advised me that 65/9 needles tend to break at speeds over 800 spm. I conferred with a customer of mine that is a beta tester for Design Shop and he tells me that a higher up at Melco says this is in fact a real problem. However after saying that I must emphasize that 65/9 needle and 60 thread are a fact of life in today's embroidery. There is no alternative to narrow columns and fine detail. When columns get to 1 mm and below. When detail is narrower than the thickness of strand of 40 thread you must use the thinner thread.

So I guess the question is do you turn out quality and sew under 800 or not? You can answer this better than me. It doesn't change the advise however."

The source is usually pretty right on so I am just wondering anyway. Thanks! Jill in Sunny SE CO

Bogus: I have run the 65/9 60wt combo at 1200 with no issues. Also ran this combo on 5 panel caps at 1000 spm with no issues.

Agree with Herb - while I don't run at 1200, we regularly run at 1000 to 1050 with 65/9's. Just did it the other day on a bunch of stuff.

Im with herb and John, I have run65/9 and 60 wt at 1000 spm on a regular basis with no problems. I run my machines at 1000 normally so can't attest with 1200 SPM but I wouldn't hesitate to do it either. With the amount of machines vs employees we get just as much done at 1000 as 1200 because of time hooping and loading etc.
