I am just getting going with my Amaya XT, and I want to do canvas bags etc --what are your recommendations on which fastframe to use?

I have been using the SlimLine frames, which are a clamping systemather than a single-frame-used-with-sticky-backing system and find they are great with bags. I use the Port Authority essentials as an advertising giveaway with any order over $100. They aren't canvas so I can't vouch for using a thicker fabric but I would certainly try it myself.

I switched from regular hoops to the slimline system 2 years ago, and I do all kinds of tote bags, knit beanies, fleece blankets, scarfs, and towels with it.
GREAT system to work with...you just have to 'prop up' ANY heavy or bulky item-even use a 2 or 3" 'box' under the bobbin area wide enough to hold up all the 'excess' material, like a blanket, sleeves and body of a big sweatshirt, whatever..because if you just let it 'hang' it can and will pull out from the clamp and screw things up.
As for tote bags, I don't even bother with backing on anything except real 'canvas' totes and then only the lightweight. All the nylon and 'boat tote' heavy duty ones I just clamp them right up and away we go. Just remember to flip your design 180 degrees!

Hi again Roland! Just curious why you say at the end of your post, to flip your design 180 degrees??? If you put the slim line clamp and arm in the top opening of the bag, then it will stitch out in the correct direction. Maybe you are talking about something like a blanket... when you put the corner of the blanket in the clamp first? Otherwise the design would be facing the center of the blanket instead of the edge. Or, maybe I'm just not comprehending ...probably time to change my glasses (:-}

Oops! My brain was stuck on beanie hats, you have to flip for those, and I was getting ready to do an order of screenprinted shirts and then totes with the same design, which the screens have to be flipped around to print on, the totes go on upside down compared to teeshirts.
For embroidery, the design would be facing the same way as shirts, for hats it gets flipped 180.
You don't need glasses...I need caffeine!
I started taking a new medication this weekend during the day instead of at night...puts me in a brain fog. good thing I wasn't driving anywhere!
