I just tried the pocket clamp for the first time. I am not impressed with my sew out. What should I set the presser foot height to?
Any tips?
Thanks,
Mary
Mary,
Presserfoot height setting is all associated with the fabric and not the hoop. On just about most items you sew you would leave the presserfoot in it's far most down position.
It's only when you start to sew thicker fabrics that you would want to consider raising your presserfoot height.
As for the pocket clamp hoop, you don't want to put anything heavy in this hoop as it's grip is limited. Some customers have added micro aligator clamps to the front side to assist in the squeezing effect when sewing on something thick or heavy.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Ed, it does help. I thought I had lowered it enough, but perhaps not. I was trying to embroider at the top edge, so I didn't have the upper part of the pocket in the clamp. Mybe that caused some of the problem. I'll hold my tongue a different way, stand on the other foot and try again.

I'm not familiar with the Amaya Anthem, unless it has something to do with the affectionate terms I have for mine.
Anyway, could you hum a few bars for us?
Mary
Mary,
Let's see, how's my memory...
Oh yes, something like this...
(Remember this was written for the original Amaya and sung to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner)
Ah hem... (clearing my throat)
-music starts- (please stand)
Oh-h say can you see, this machine for embroidery.
How so proudly we feel, when there is no thread breaking.
Whose broad thread and backing, through the perilous fight,
O’er the shirts that we sewed, were so gallantly stitching?
And her shoulder's red glare, the dust bursting in air,
Gave proof through my shift, that our workload was there.
O say, does that robot lookin' embroidery machine yet wave,
O’er the land of the self employed, and the shops of the brave?

I'm not sure but I think I am glad there was no voice recording attached to this. I do think Ed has too much time on his hands if he is thinging up Amaya Anthems.
Well, in that case I will look for my Music for the AMAYA CD in the mail. Look forward to hearing the AMAYA Christmas song and you can't forget the the Birthday Jam.
John is/was into radio maybe you can get together with him and make some great tunes
