Popping sound and smell of burning plastic

Help, I had a tracking error when I traced my design, then a popping sound, machine shut off
and smell of burning plastic. Last time I ran machine it was fine. Haven't touched it since xmas, turned on, loaded design and whammy. What
happened, any ideas out there. Is this going to
be a tech problem. Hope not, I'm far from techs

There are some good techs in this group who would probably be able to give you better insight into what your problem may be.

However as a non-tech person, a popping sound and smell of burning plastic to me would indicate either an electrical short in your machine or the failure of an electronic component on a board.

I would suggest that the machine be carefully checked before further use .... hopefully a tech will have better news for you.

Thank you Bob,
I spoke w/ tech and further investigation showed
a short in the power supple box. Having one sent
they are kinda pricey. Just am hoping mother board is still ok. Oh well
