  • Help!!!

My machine just finished sewing out a design(several of the same sewed out perfectly prior) and for some reason it did not trim properly. Then I put the next garment in and started it went a few stitches and the needle stopped in the down position and I got a "Z axis timeout error"
Any idea how to get it restarted or get the needle up so I can restart the machine and software?

    Thanks...

    Richard,

Try to push the e-stop button and then release it. sometimes this will do the trick. You may need to clean out your sensor that is located on the back side of the needle case. Give me a call if you need help locating the sensor to blow out with air. 541-770-2957 or 541-840-6474. I will be around most of the day today.

I have come across that problem as well. Except mine happens in the middle of sewing a design. The e-stop button will not work when this happens. I have tried multiple times. The only thing that has worked of me is to shut off the machine by the power switch.

Usually it means you have dust or something on the 'sensor' in the back behind the needle case (I don't think this is true for the XT's, is it now?) and you need to air blast it both sides.
You may have to shut down and restart....and there is a safeguard in the program that it should restart in the same spot.
If you watch your 'stitch count' in Amaya OS, if you can't get it to restart where it stopped, reset the design, recenter hoop, and just move it ahead to the stitches where it stopped and go from there.
Warning...if you had shifted the hoop to get the design where you wanted it instead of 'hoop center' and 'design center'...then this won't work-you will never find the exact same starting point again!
So I learned not to move the design around with hoop commands...get it centered in design shop first.

The centering of the design in DS is or should be a basic fundamental of digitizing. When you start OS, center the hoop, then load the design. Now everything is centered. If you are not sure, click the "center design" button. Now then, most of us hoop close to center, but not quite perfect. We jog our hoops to line up. When you push the go button you have established "origin". If you have an issue you can then click the "return to origin" button and the machine will reset and go to the center (The original starting position) it had when you pushed the go button. If you note the stitch count at the point of your issue you can then use the "move to stitch" function to get back where you need to be. Sounds confusing but after you save your behind a few times it becomes very clear.

Herb, where is that 'return to origin' button? I have never seen it or used it...hence my problem if I have jogged the hoop to get placement and then have to restart because of a problem...
with above pocket placement or exact spot line up on polo shirts it is almost impossible to hoop dead on for some stuff...and like others, the red stop button has no effect if I get the axis error...it only works if we used IT to stop a sewout-has no effect if the stoppage was caused by error in something else.
Went over this several times with techs in Denver when problems arose...they never said reloading would make it function otherwise...someone else posted reloading all program to 'fix' it.

In OS, 2nd tool bar down, small arrow pointing down to a red cross hair. Next to center hoop.
