  • Selector Stepper Index Error

Folks - one of my two XTs has been giving me this message " Selector Stepper Index Error - Not on Index while sewing " on a somewhat regular basis for the past two days. It keeps sewing, but the message pops up on almost every design I sew, even ones with only 2 or 3 colors. Can someone tell me what this means and how I make it go away?

    Yo Tom,
It basically means that the Stepper motor for the Selector is not finding it's home position.

Have you went into Maintanance , steppers and clicked on the "Home" tab in the Selector column?

That would be the first step to try.....the underlying cause....several but 1 step at a time.

Merry Christmas to you and the family....

This board is great. Within 90 minuutes of my post I got a phone call and emails from 3 different techs trying to help me out. I've got a few things to now try to set me straight. I love this board. Absolutely fantastic people.

Oh yeah, Sir Rod - Merry Christmas is about 900,000 stitches away for me. Probably more for others. After that, it's mirth and merriment, but until then, I'm working 2 jobs.

Now if I could just get that image of Ed outta my head....... That photo may put me into therapy.

I couldn't even put what I have left into how many stitches but I think I am down to around 30-35 different jobs. Some are small and some are 150+. Its going to be right down to the line this year and I have turned away countless jobs this year and cut off orders over 2 weeks ago. Wish me luck.

Hello there Mr. Sew & Sew, I was wondering if you would be willing to share some of that great info you recieved about the selector index error?? My machine has been doing this ever since I recieved it, and the only response I've ever had was to ignore the error message and continue on. Thanks, and you are right, this board is GREAT!!!

            Hey guys,
Have to get on the road for a couple of hours but I think I found why an XT machine gets selector and trimmer not home errors. No time to write so call if you'd like.

              SewSew7 -

the two main ones were to take off the needle plate and give a good cleaning underneath. There was some built up gunk in the back of the area and that could keep the selector from getting back to "home". The other is what Rod explained above. I ran the selector and trimmers through the test cycle several times. It hasn't gone away completely, but I can go through a few runs sometimes before it pops up. I have a tech coming out in the next week or so, and if I find more I will let you know. Either way, the machine keeps running so I view this as a Check Engine Light. You know something isn't totally right, but you can keep driving.

Just spoke to Ed for 15 minutes about this and some other issues. Ed's a funny funny guy, but looks aren't everything my Momma told me.
