  • Re-installing Rotary Hook

OK, maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to find the information about re-installing & adjusting the rotary hook on a 2003 Amaya. When I went looking for the information in Amaya OS (my version is 7.00.029), I only found a couple of references to "See Hook Timing Adjustment". Imagine my surprise when it turns out there IS NO ENTRY ANYWHERE within the help system for "Hook Timing Adjustment"!! And on top of everything, every reference to the rotary hook only shows the XT machine, and not mine! -sigh-

OK, so I went looking for the Technical Manual on the computer, and imagine my surprise to find out that the latest upgrade I got (which obviously was some time ago) seems to have removed my technical manual from the computer - so now the icon/link that's on the desktop can't find it on my hard drive! I looked manually on both the hard drive and the OS CD, and it doesn't exist. I think to myself, OK, no problem, I'll just download it from the Melco website. HA! (By the way, if anyone wants a serious lesson in frustration, try finding anything relating to this topic on the Melco websites.)

As you might surmise, I'm REALLY "happy" at this point.

Can anyone please assist me with getting this info? I really need to get this machine back up and running...

Thanks in advance for your help!

You should have recieved a disc with the machine that has you service manuals on it. Ususally comes in the operators kit box.

You can use the hook timing information from the Amaya XT, as a tech I don't time either machine any different.

        Jim,
Why do you suppose you need to adjust your rotary hook timing? Did you remove your rotary hook for some reason? Or did you knock your hook timing out by catching something in the hook like a sleeve???

LOL...thanks for your replies, guys. Let me answer them in order:

Herb, if I HAD the tech manual on disk, I would have used it...so the answer is: I don't seem to have it here.

Russell, I was not able to find *ANY* rotary hook replacement/hook timing adjustment information in the help system (XT or otherwise). If I had found that info, I would have used it, however, there IS NO info available for this procedure - at least not in my version of the OS.

Ed, I did indeed remove the rotary hook (under the assumption I could easily find the information on replacing it into the machine), and I now need to get it back in place and properly adjusted.

I was astounded to see that there was not even a reference to this procedure on Melco's support website! Quite a disappointment...

          Thanks again,

          - Jim

            Hi Jim,

I have written directions for checking and setting the hook timing. I got these from Melco support after I got some fabric caught in the rotary hook and messed up the hook timing on my XT. If you give me your email I am happy to pass them on. They are pretty good as far as written instructions go.

This is the second time someone has asked for directions for the rotaty hook. I'm wondering if I could email the instructions I got to someone to post on the forum for future use?

Thanks, Loyda! Do you also have instructions handy for installing/replacing the rotary hook?

Here's the email address: [email protected]
