sequins attachment dedicated needle

I have a sequins attachment that was set up when I purchased my amaya machine.

My question is, is there a way to use that needle (needle 16) for just thread when I'm not sewing sequins?
Does the sequins head always come into play or can it be disengaged to free that needle thread for embroidery?

Needle 16 is a dedicated needle for sequins if the sequin head is installed.

The first sequin installments used an optical sensor that came into play if the needle case went to needle 16 and now it is selected within the software and a mechanical switch.

Unless Melco has not told me all there is to know about the sequin heads, I would say that there is not a way to disable the sequin function as long as the head is installed. I suppose , as it is now a software function, they could possibly do something along those lines but then again, trying to figure out whether or not you have one of the optical sensor versions or the mechanical switch version would take some more research...or whether or not it has been converted....etc...

Thanks for your reply.

I purchased my machine in July this year so I have the current version of everything. I saw no way to disable it in the software. (I'm a computer geek of sorts, so I really looked!) This should be programmable, but no problem. I just needed to know.

I can see this forum is going to be a great ressource. I hope to contribute too, when I can. Just starting up my business now.
