Ok, the results are in with 26 total votes cast here is the findings:

1. Western Caribbean won with 46.2% of votes.

2. 7 day cruise won with 61.5% of the votes.

3. digitizing, maintenance, hooping, caps, website design, marketing got votes for classes.

4. As far as paying extra people are willing to pay extra anywhere from 50 to 300 dollars.

5. February won with 30.8% of the votes runner ups were March and July with 15.4%

6. Alot of people had no choice for cruise lines with Royal Caribbean and Princess as runners up.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the survey this gives a great starting point and look for more information coming your way for the first Melco/Amaya cruise...We will do everything in our power to keep costs down for everyone...

Here is an update on the cruise to this point:

We are looking at Carnival Feb. 09 at this point as alot of the meeting space is already gone for 08 :-(. We wanted to keep the price as low as possible and they have the best meeting space afloat right now so Carnival it is...

So look for upcoming information on deposits, itinerary, payment plans and even the meetings we will be having onboard....

If you know of someone that might be willing to do a training session onboard please let me know so we can get those arranged.

We are also working with companies to offer discounts and prizes for the sailing....

This will be alot of fun for everyone!

Feb 9 has a couple choices.

Carnival Triumph 7 night from Miami
Carnival Celebration 5 night from Jacksonville
Carnival Glory 7 night from Canaveral (Orlando)
Carnival Ecstasy 5 night from Galveston, TX (Houston)
Carnival Fantasy 5 night from New Orleans
Carnival Freedom 7 night from Miami

They all do Caribbean except Carnival Celebration which does Bahamas.

Should be interesting going over Valentines day.

I will not be able to go since I have already booked a cruise and airfare a month before this.

Ok, this is February 2009 sorry for the confusion it will be leaving out of Miami and is doing the Exotic Western Caribbean which does Belize, Honduras, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on the cruise as we are getting close to opening it up for reservations just putting the last little bit together.
The classes we are still working on but are making great progress thus far in such a short amount of time.
We will be running contests leading up to the cruise so everyone stay tuned for upcoming details. Ok, Ok, here is a teaser on a contest so you can get your thinking caps on....LOGO! Yes, we need a logo for our cruise sew we can embroider it on shirts, hats and bags to wear on the cruise...sew everyone start thinking of a logo! More details will be forth coming on the contest!

You said Royal Caribbean and Princess are runner-ups. Does this mean Carnival won the vote?
I don't mean to sound picky but I have Crown and Anchor points with Royal Caribbean so I will only go on RCCL.

Personally, I am for whichever is the best value in a cruise. Isn't RCCL the most expensive of the three? Trying to balance cost with learning here

Hi Steve!

76% of the voters had no opinion on cruise lines so we looked at all cruise lines including Royal Caribbean. I myself like Princess...Our biggest thing was meeting space on the ships, price and over all service of the group needs. Honestly, RCCL is a great cruise line but they don't bring the price down for the group bookings, their group department is really lacking in service and they were close to $400 dollars higher in price then Carnival and about $200 higher then Princess.
Alot of people stressed that the cost of this had to be reasonable enough for them so that was a big factor if people don't mind paying close to $900 per person for an inside cabin then we can relook at this not a problem.

I have been on several cruise lines and found that cruises are a "you get what you pay for" I was not impressed with Carnival (NCL was worse) I have been on Princess too but I think I was the youngest person on the ship. I did look up the cost of Carnival vs Royal and know that Royal is more money but this is mainly due to RCCL having new ships running Caribbean routes (Freedom and Liberty - both built in the past 2 years.) Carnival is running the Triumph which was built in 1999. Cruise lines always charge more for new ships the first 2 - 3 years it comes out because they sell out. We have always had fun on Royal Caribbean and don't mind paying the extra money to go on RCCL. It doesn't matter to me which cruise line you guys pick but I personally will only go on Royal. We were looking at Alaska for summer 2009 so we wil probably do that if you guys choose Carnival for this.

We could discuss who is better in the cruise line industry until we are blue in the face as everyone has their own opinion on this.
I can tell you the cruise is not on the Triumph however it will be on the Carnival Valor which was built in 2004. So it is still a fairly new ship as well.
People wanted to get together to learn and meet everyone within reason and that is what we are trying to accomplish with this cruise.

You can't please everyone all the time. I really appreciate the hard work you have put in on getting us all together and the thoughtfulness of trying to include everyone regardless of price range into the fun.

Whatever cruise line, it's the company I am looking forward to. I have a feeling that this group could have fun on any ship including the S.S. Minnow.

FYI...just got the monthly BJ' club newsletter in, and there is an ad in there- Prices for 7 nite southern Caribbean, sailing from San Juan for $479.00 and up.
3 nite out of port canaveral- Bahamas, $199 and up.
So it would be worth sharpening the pencils and see what is a real bargain price.
Norwegian Cruise LInes, 7 nites, Caribbean out of Miami, $449 and up.
Sounds like some bargains out there!
Much as I'd love to come along-can't take the time to play!
No one to 'mind the farm' up here-dog would end up in the kennel for the full time, another expense...
