  • I can't find it!

Uncle, I say. On Big Red, when I fired her up the needle always went to #9. With Smokey, with I fire him up, it goes to #1, then back to whatever needle he was set on when I shut him down. Since I alternate my starting needle with every design to keep them wearing somewhat evenly (okay, I know I'm overprotective, but I only have one!), this means he sometimes turns on, goes from 16 to 1 and back again, and I think that's a lot of traveling for nothing. What is the magic setting to make him quit running around so much?

Just let him sleep longer...all he's doing is yawning and scratching where it itches...LOL....

There is no magic. The XT has a different Color Change system and homes the needle case in a different manner. The non-XT used the slots on the back of the needle case through a sensor to tell it where it was at. The XT uses an encoder with pulses out of it that is attached to the actual color change motor. It sets home by acutally going past needle one and hitting a stop. Then it goes back to the needle one position, then to the needle it left off on.

No way around it. The good news is the color change system was made to move quicker in the 2007 release when it is released.

In the just released OS ver 7.00.056, the needle case ips along much faster than the previous ver. And it sound different.

          Judy,
Being concerned about your needle case sliding left and right after turning the machine on is just like a brand new pencil... Pointless.
The machine was designed to do this. You shouldn't have problems in this area due to turning on your machine everyday for many years.
          However,... You do have options.
If you so elect to, you could put the machine into "sleep mode" at the end of the day (hold down the stop button for 5 seconds) and when you "wake up" the machine the next day (hold down the start button for 5 seconds), the needle case won't move at all until you tell it to.
Of course, you may also have concerns about leaving the machine and computer on all night long.
          These are indeed, tough decisions.
          Good Luck,
          Ed
PS. If you choose to use sleep mode, don't close the Amaya OS software on the computer.
