  • Major jam

Well, I did it - had a major jam. Surprisingly, the shirt is hardly damaged, but my XT is another matter. I had a shirt get all jamed in the hoop assembly. When I got it out, the black plastic part that is inside (this includes the post that the bobbin goes on) is free floating. I can just spin it around. I think something is broken inside there. Is there a picture somewhere? And of course it is after hours! But not a 3 day weekend.

Does anyone know the name and phone number of the tech on Oahu? Thought I'd give him a call.

      Juli,
It sounds as if you have possibly bent the rotary hook retaining finger and it is no longer holding the hook basket from spinning freely. The finger fits into a slot in the basket and is set with a guage that is supplied with your starter kit. The spacing is 20 to 22 thousands using the guage...

The finger "must" be enguaged in the rotary hook basket or damage may result to the hook or machine....

Sorry , I do not know who the tech is where you live....

Perhaps it would be a good idea if this group had a section that listed all the Amaya techs and the areas they cover ???

Might save owners [especially the new ones] the trouble of searching for the nearest tech when needed.

Yep. It's a good idea and one I would like to do but I have never been able to get a yes or no answer from melco on whether it's ok and I don't want to step on any toes.

            Hey John,
Since there are a handful of techs on this message board, can you ask them if they want to be put on a list and post it on amayausers.com? I'm sure once a couple techs get listed, other techs will ask to be added.
It might be tricky for Melco to give you answer since techs have to be certified for each machine they work on (EMT, Amaya, Amaya XT) and get re-certified each year. I doubt there are many techs that spend the time and effort on EMC and older machines getting re-certified if Melco even gives them that option anymore since the machines are so old now.

              John

Hopefully someone from Melco who belongs to this group will see the need for such a tech list and help you put one together for the benefit of all Amaya owners.

I can't see any reason that they would object. Besides with all the work you do here, I think they owe you a favor or two.

              Have a great day

As an independant technician and trainer, I would authorize my name, number, certifications, and area willing to travel to be listed with the Amayausers list. As was stated, once a few names go up, I'm sure others would join in.

Heck, I would travel anywhere in the continental US if travel and lodging are compensated. This is actually doable if multiple Amaya owners pool together.
I live in Louisiana but will be in Alabama tomorrow and Florida on Thursday. We technicians know this is part of the job.

                  Juli,
                  Aren't you in Hawaii??
Melco's guy who travels to Hawaii is Herman Wilson. 303-279-5659 Know that he is based out of Denver, Co. but he has family in Hawaii and may visit them from time to time.
                  Good luck,

I got up at 4:25 this am and called Denver. Had to wait a bit, but finally got Saint Chris. He said the retainer was just out of adjustment and he walked me through it. And, wa-la, it works perfectly. Did 35 shirts before 1:00 pm. And my customer is very happy.

Now I have 17 clothes protectors and 17 rally towels to put names on by tomorrow. Then I have about 15 more duffel bags to put logo and names on. And the bal of 13 hats to finish.

And, lets see, I have a dental cleaning tomorrow and I have to work 4 hrs on Thur. Better get busy.

Glad the fix was an easy one and the machine is up and running for you.

Just out of curiousity, do you know of any commercial embroidery machine company who has a sales rep / technician on the Hawaiian Islands ?

Heck, I would think that is where they all would want to be located.

I think there are several techs for various major commercial machine companies. But on Oahu - where Honolulu is. Don't forget that I am on an outer Island. Our Amaya tech is Doug Dang and I know I put his phone number in a safe place. So safe that I can't find it now!

Yep, I am and running at full speed. I figured out the Group Names and just used it. That is cool! Very, very Cool. What a time saver! I have three jobs in a row that all have individual names. Just did the first one and I could hardly hoop the next one before the first one was finished. I was taking the hoop off with one hand and putting the next one one with the other. And I am running the speed at full blast.

And I had my customer sit at my computer and input the names.

                        Gotta go eat.

                          Say,.. Juli,..
                          I was thinking...,
                          Umm...
Do you happen to have a spare guest room where all of us Amaya Users could visit?? Never heard of "Oahu" but it sounds like a beautiful place. If we all scheduled to visit at the same time, someone could handle the dishes, others the laundry, etc... I think John said we're up to 350 members now so you really wouldn't have to do anything. (Parking might be a problem, though.)
                          Think about it.
