  • Adding another AMAYA help.

I just purchased a used AMAYA to add to my single AMAYA. It doesn't come with any software and MELCO just told me I could pay up to $3500 for the flex software. Is there any other option at this point just to get the machine up and running with my current version of OS??? I don't need it to run independant of the other machine (yet), I just need it to run the same design as the first machine.

    Thanks.

You need some version of the OS whether it be standard, flex or flex plus. why would you buy a used machine without it?

Normally if you are running one machine you will run 1 cross-over-cable ethernet cable from your computer to your Machine. If thats the case then to run 2 you need to get 3 straight through ethernet cables and a hub. You will run a cable from your computer to the hub and then run 2 cables from the hub, 1 to each machine. Then you need to start AMAYA os and go to configuration. Once it recognizes both machines (it will show a box showing number of machines and number of dongles) click next and then to setup both so they are together hit the center bullseye button on both machines and then click finish and it will configure them both together.

If it doesn't recognize both machines you may need to turn on both machines first and then start the amaya OS so it can load the CSA and RSA files into both mathines. I can't remember not if you need to start OS first and then turn on the machines or turn the machines on then start OS. EIther way make sure before you start both machines up together that you have the force download checked under tools ... options ... ehternet. The force download on will make sure the CSA and RSA files are loaded into both machines and that they are the same. Once you get it all setup you can uncheck the force download so if you have a power outage when you restart the machines you will not lose the last place you are sewing, you can just turn them back on and continue where you were at.

ANytime you load new software or add machines you need to make sure to force download to get the proper files loaded and it doesn't hurt to actually force the download and then turn the machines off and them back on and force it again. There were some software versions where the force download didn't take effect until the 2nd time.

If you have problems getting them both loaded let us know and we can help you get them going. Its actually pretty easy.

        John,

She has OS with her first machine but the used one has no software so she wants to utilize the software from her first machine.

Beautiful!!! Thanks Aaron. And I am a "He" for future reference. Not to worry, didn't take it as an insult. Not often you see the man of the house running the embroidery business. My wife gives me hell for it whenever I get a little upity.

I receive the machine on Wednesday and I'll try what you said. I wouldn't have known otherwise. Thanks.

I thought the OS program has to be purchased as either 'one' machine or 'multiple' machines...mine has the multiple feature
but we only have one machine. If you have the 'single head' version you have to pay for an upgrade to get the 'multiple head' feature and maybe a new dongle? I have been told you can't just hook in more machines
At least that's what I understood-we're running the older version, 6 I think.

When I bought my original 3 AMAYA's they came with 1 dongle and I ran all 3 machines on that dongle. They had to be setup as 1 cluster so they all 3 had to run the same design and if the thread broke on 1 they all stopped. I am not positive but I dont think I had a multiple machine dongle. I think it is the same but you need multiple dongles or flex if you want to run them as seperate machines. Now my first AMAYA's were in the low 200's so they may have changed things and I could be wrong but am pretty sure you can run up to 30 amayas on 1 dongle as long as they are all 1 cluster.

I have two machines and I run the flex so each machine runs independently.

YEs, I have flex and run 6 seperately. We are trying to verify that you can run 2 machines as 1 without the flex software and just the regular base software

I've been on the phone with the Melco folks and have given them my OS software version and serial number and it looks like I am SOL. If you have the SE version of the software then you can only run one machine (according to Melco rep). You need the Flex or Flex+ to run multiples and run them independant of each other. Exploring other options at this point.

The advice from the Melco Rep is correct.
OS SE can only run 1 machine, but Flex and Flex + can run multipul machines.

Some older versions of the base level operating system, back when it was ACPS not OS, were able to run multipul heads which ran as a conventional machine does, all in time with each other, starting stoping etc.
This would have been true for Aaron's machines with serial numbers in the 200's

Found the solution. Bought new (refurbished) machines and software upgrades. Melco reps were great to work with. Understood the problem and worked with me on a financially reasonable solution. Two AMAYA's on the way.
