  • Machine beeps 5 times

My machine beeps 5 times when I turn it on. Then I can do nothing else. I have a cap order due out in the morning and cannot reach my technician. Can anybody please help?

Your big red emergency stop button is engaged. Turn off your machine first, then unengaged the emergency stop. Now you are ready to wait for the gray screen in OS, turn on your machine and away you go!

ALWAYS remember to check your emergency stop button and make sure it is unengaged BEFORE ever turning on your machine. You run the risk of damaging your motherboard otherwise. That is why the 5 rapid beeps...it is a warning.

How can you tell if the Emergency stop is ENGAGED when the machine is off?

          Terri,
Just give the Emergency Stop button a quick turn to the right before turning it on. Then you know for sure it is not engaged.

I guess I could write that more clearly...give the Emergency Stop button a quick turn to the right before turning on your machine. Then you know the Emergency Stop button is not engaged (or pushed in).

Thanks. With your warning of the potential danger, the new step in "turning on" everything will be "turning the emergency stop button".

Sharon and Rod, we're going to have to issue you two a couple of masks and colorful, spandex bodysuits if you keep swooping in to the rescue like this.

I had no idea that it could damage the motherboard if the machine is turned on with e-stop engaged. As you know, our machine is in a tight corner; it is very easy to accidentally hit the e-stop when leaning around to flip the on/off switch. Thanks for the warning.

Ha ha...I could see me in spandex!!! I would look like the Goodyear Blimp! A swimming suit is bad enough.

When giving training, Rod always explains it as if you turned on all electrical items in the home then threw the circuit breaker. The large surge of power could blow something out. It is only on initial start-up. During sewing, we can hit the Emergency Stop and then release it and it won't hurt anything. That is why the 5 short, fast beeps...a warning and the machine won't function.
